Julie K. Gray, CPA

I received a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Texas A&M University in 1998 and then began my career at Melton & Melton. After working at this large local Houston firm for 18 years, I was ready to start my own CPA firm in 2017. This allowed me to combine years of large-firm experience with a personalized approach that clients value. I specialize in serving small to mid-sized businesses, and their owners, across most industries helping them improve profitability and efficiency through tax planning and financial reporting. I also assist individuals seeking peace of mind with their tax filings. Building strong relationships is at the heart of my practice. I enjoy supporting clients and their families in every aspect of their financial journey. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my 3 children, my husband, Steve and our 2 dogs, Kali and Sweetie.

Being a partner at Gray & Brightman CPAs has fulfilled a professional goal. I received my bachelor of science degree in finance from the University of South Florida. From there, my career began at one of the Big Four accounting firms. I've held titles such as Senior Tax Accountant and Tax Manager. Over the last 25 years, these experiences have given me the tools I require to professionally service my clients. I assist my clients in a variety of ways, including year-end accounting, financial statements, and tax return creation, to name a few. I believe the accountant-client relationship is strengthened when we work together. In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my husband Matt, and son Nicholas.

Since joining Gray & Brightman in January 2020, I have had the opportunity to build strong relationships with many of our clients, and I truly enjoy working with them. I began my career in bookkeeping in 2003, shortly after graduating with my B.B.A. from the University of Houston-Downtown. Over the years, I have developed my strengths in bookkeeping and accounting processes, with a focus on helping clients maintain accurate, organized books so they can operate their businesses efficiently and confidently. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and pets.

After graduating with a degree in accounting, I came to work at Gray & Brightman in December 2023. I began my career as a tax secretary and have since added part-time bookkeeping to my repertoire. My goal is to ensure smooth daily operations and accurate financial recordkeeping for our clients and CPA's. In my free time I spend time with my children, friends and pets. I also enjoy playing my French Horn in a community symphonic band, reading, crafts and furthering my education.

With a diverse background in computer science, defense contracting, and culinary arts, I bring a distinctive perspective to finance and accounting. My early career honed strong analytical and problem-solving skills, while my experience in the culinary industry ignited a passion for leadership and operational excellence. This journey inspired me to pursue an accounting degree, and I am now working toward CPA certification. I aim to combine technical expertise, creative thinking, and practical business insight to drive Gray & Brightman's success and deliver meaningful results for our clients.
